Barry, one of Red Dog Media’s Q2, 2024 Core Value Chip winners, selected Project Apis m. for his charitable donation! This organization is dedicated to supporting honeybee populations—a cause Barry holds close to his heart. With bees frequently buzzing around his backyard, he wanted to show his support and let them know they’re on the same page.
Barry says, while honeybee populations have seen some improvements in recent years, they still face significant threats. Pests like Varroa mites and deforestation continue to challenge their survival. Project Apis m. is working to address these issues by collaborating with conservatories, including one in Hilo, Hawaii. They’re developing stronger honeybee species that are more resilient to these threats, especially the Varroa mites, which are a major contributor to colony deaths.
Barry also encourages others to look into charities that focus on protecting all types of bees, as these vital pollinators play a crucial role in maintaining our ecosystems.
